THIS IS THE SECOND YEAR OF PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN THE SALCC AND ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING INC.
Local engineer Clive Antoine and Electrical Engineering Inc. is partnering with the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College to deliver much needed training to local electricians, engineers and technicians.
The Specialized Industry training in IET WIRING REGULATIONS, BS 7671, and INSPECTION and TESTING is facilitated by electrical experts from the United Kingdom with participants receiving certification from City and Guilds of London.
The training period runs from Feb. 26 to March 2 in the Bernard Theobalds and Joel Higgins Electronics Workshop, with online exams in the CAD Lab of the Division of Technical Education and Management Studies.
Approximately thirty-two professionals will be trained in the IET regulations and eight in Inspection and Testing including one student from the Electrical Installation Programme who was awarded a scholarship.
This is the second year of successful and productive partnership between the SALCC and Electrical Engineering Inc. A third training session is expected during the summer.
As part of this partnership a total of twelve (12) Test Benches – four (4) exam boards, four (4) Visual exam boards, four (4) Insulation Resistance Boards; electrical instruments and books all of which are City and Guilds approved have been donated to the Division of Technical Education and Management Studies for use in their Electrical Installations Programme. The value of the donation is estimated at 6000 pounds sterling. The formal handing over of the equipment to the College will take place on Tuesday, February 27, at the Electrical Installations Workshop at 9:30 a.m.
